Leaving and real freedom
Walking away safely
Leaving any high-demand group can be costly. Plan, get support, and know you are not alone.
Practical steps
Many people who leave describe pressure, fear of losing family and friends, and money worries. Think about your finances, documents and housing before you announce anything. Find people outside the group you trust.
A licensed counsellor who understands high-demand groups can help. If you are ever in danger, contact local emergency services. If you are thinking of harming yourself, call or text 988 in the US, or 116 123 in the UK.
You are not alone
Jesus calls the weary and burdened to himself, and promises rest. Whatever you lose in leaving, he does not leave you.
28“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
