Keep the door open
Arguments and ridicule usually push people further in. Stay kind, stay in touch where you can, and listen more than you speak. Pray for them. Ask honest questions rather than giving lectures.
If you have been disconnected from, you are grieving a living person. That is real grief. Bring it to God, who knows what it is to love people who turn away.
15But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts. Always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear,
