Clear and the Bridge to Total Freedom
Scientology maps spiritual progress as a step-by-step chart, the Bridge to Total Freedom, leading to Clear and then the Operating Thetan levels.
The teaching
The Bridge to Total Freedom is a chart of steps. One side is auditing, the other is training to become an auditor. The state of Clear is reached when, in Scientology's terms, a person no longer has their own reactive mind. Beyond Clear are the confidential Operating Thetan levels, OT I to OT VIII.
Each step is a service of the Church, given for a fixed donation.
Beside the Bible
Jesus also promised freedom, but not at the top of a staircase. He said: if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. Freedom in Christ is given at the start, by grace, and then grows for the rest of life.
